For the past two and a half years I have poured everything into building a home for boys who don’t fit the system.

We began in a borrowed shul and later in a tiny converted bedroom. There, a handful of boys who had stopped believing in “school” slowly came back to life. Through movement, hands-on projects, and integrative Torah learning, they learned to regulate their emotions, collaborate, and take real responsibility. For the first time in their lives, they felt safe and respected in a Torah environment.

But the need grew faster than I could legally and administratively handle. I was overburdened and understaffed, and we were forced to close our physical space—even as more boys were being pushed out of schools with nowhere to go. We are living through a quiet mental-health crisis, and these boys are often the first to fall through the cracks.

One of them is my own son. After being traumatized in school, he had no place that honored his development, his questions, and his neshama. There are hundreds of boys like him in our community.
